Securital Aviation Selected as Delta Air Lines’ Security Services Provider for Historic JFK–Malta Route

Securital Aviation has been appointed as the aviation security partner for Delta Air Lines’ inaugural service between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Malta International Airport (MLA), launching on 8 June 2026.
Delta‘s JFK–MLA route marks a landmark moment for Maltese aviation. It is the first scheduled nonstop service between Malta and the United States, operating three times weekly aboard a Boeing 767-300ER. The route emerged from Delta‘s Route Race initiative, through which the airline’s own employees voted Malta as their preferred new Mediterranean destination for summer 2026.
For a US carrier of Delta‘s standing, the security requirements applied to its international operations are exacting. Delta demands that its ground security providers operate in full alignment with the standards set by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for flights bound for the United States. These requirements go beyond standard European aviation security frameworks and place significant operational, procedural, and compliance demands on any appointed provider.
Securital Aviation was selected precisely because it meets and exceeds those demands.
With over a decade of regulated passenger screening operations at Malta International Airport, Securital Aviation brings a depth of institutional knowledge, regulatory compliance, and operational infrastructure that few providers in the region can match. The company operates two AVSEC-accredited and government-certified instructors on staff, ensuring that all deployed personnel hold the licenses and airside clearances required by Maltese authorities. Its operational framework is built on continuous staff development, stringent quality assurance, and close coordination with airport and regulatory bodies.
The appointment followed a rigorous and competitive request for proposal process initiated by Delta Air Lines in February 2026, which included introductory briefings, a site visit to MLA, a full due diligence assessment, and a commercial proposal review. Securital Aviation was formally awarded the contract in March 2026.
Elton Debattista, General Manager of Securital Aviation, said: “Delta Air Lines sets a high bar for its security operations, and rightly so. Being selected to support the launch of their Malta station is a direct reflection of the standards our team has built and maintained over many years.
We are not simply meeting the requirement. We are ready to exceed it.”
Securital Aviation is now in the full coordination and implementation phase, working closely with the Delta team to ensure complete operational readiness from the first flight.
