Local Wardens to be transferred to LESA
All local wardens will as from 1st May 2018 be transferred to a closed department of the Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA) in line with negotiations which have been on going for the past six months. The move is part of the local warden reform, which was a labour party electoral pledge. Under the new reform all local wardens will become known as “Community Officers” and this change is planned to be effective within the next three months.
LESA was set up three years ago to oversee the reform, which will broaden the duties of local wardens. Furthermore The company will remain involved in all the street monitoring services, speed cameras services and management of the reporting of collisions on the roads. This new partnership will be a new era for the company whilst LESA take on the new role of the actual management of local enforcement system in Malta and Gozo.
